The Story Behind the Name
A boy once offered five loaves and two fish. It wasn’t much. Barely enough for one. But placed in the hands of Jesus, it fed thousands, with baskets left over (John 6:9–13).
That’s the heart of The Five and Two. On its own, a monthly gift can feel small. Joined with others and carried through our network of 55+ ministry partners, it multiplies, reaching children across Southeast Michigan who need to know they are seen and loved.
One gift each month. Thousands reached. That’s the multiplication effect.
Why a Monthly Gift Goes Further
A child’s needs don’t follow a calendar, so the help that meets them shouldn’t either.
When you give year-round, you keep us ready in every season, a coat at Christmas, a basket at Easter, a backpack in August, a place at camp when school lets out. Your steady gift means we’re never scrambling to meet a need we already knew was coming. We’re prepared. And a child is met with more than a single moment; they’re met with someone who keeps showing up.
Choose Your Level
Every level multiplies. Here’s what your monthly gift makes possible over a year.
$10 / month | $120 a year
The easiest way to start multiplying. Ten dollars a month, joined with others, goes to work in every part of our mission. Over a year, your gift could:
- Equip a child with the online learning tools we use for individualized tutoring all school year
- Help stock the socks and new underwear we hand to children year-round — more than 10,000 pairs a year
- Provide 10 children with brand-new winter coats
- Add books, hygiene supplies, and small comfort items to the Christmas and Easter gift packages
$25 / month | $300 a year
Carry one child through the whole year. Your gift makes it possible for a child in need to receive our gift packages three times a year:
- At Christmas: a winter coat, hats and gloves, clothing, toys, hygiene products, and books
- At Easter: a basket filled with surprises, a personalized hygiene kit, and a message that shares the Gospel
- In August: a new backpack filled with the supplies to start the school year strong
$50/ month | $600 a year
Stretch your gift wherever it’s needed most. Over a year, your giving could:
- Carry one child through all three seasonal gift packages and help send them to a Christian overnight summer camp
- Purchase new socks and underwear for 50 children
- Provide hygiene kits for 75 children in need
$100/ month | $1200 a year
Real, countable good. Over a year, your gift could:
- Outfit 100 children in warm, brand-new winter coats for a Michigan winter
- Send a child to four full weeks of Summer Bible camp at our Connecting Kids to Christ Center
- Provide a full school year of individualized tutoring, twice a week, for one child
$500/ month | $6000 a year
The gift that moves the needle. Over a year, $500 a month could:
- Outfit 500 children in brand-new winter coats
- Provide new socks and underwear for 500 children
- Supply 750 hygiene kits to children in need
