Most public schools in our area have moved online for the start of the 2020-2021 school year, but that doesn’t mean that there wasn’t a need for school supplies.
Actually, there was a greater need than ever before.
Many classrooms used to share materials between students and with the students working remotely it became more important than ever before to make sure that students have the supplies they need to participate in their new remote learning landscape.
Thank you to everyone who donated supplies and cash for our drive. We distributed 932 backpacks to 17 sites filled to the brim with the supplies needed for the success of these students.
It was a different experience this year with social distancing and masks, but it was clear from the smiles in the kids’ eyes that they were just as excited to receive their new supplies as we were.
In addition, we went shopping with 57 children who were able to pick out new shoes for school. We also set up 47 children with school uniforms.
